Pita Pit was founded by Nelson Lang on the idea that people want a fresh, healthy alternative to fast food. Born in Canada in 1995, Pita Pit creates a fun, casual atmosphere where customers can create their perfect pita amongst our endless flavor combinations of lean meats, toppings and spreads. Pita Pit expanded into the US in 1999 and is growing steadily as we add to our franchise family nationwide. Pita Pit USA’s headquarters are based in the northwest town of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Nelson Lang – Pita Pit Founder
Nelson Lang is the Founder of the Pita Pit concept, rolling the very first Pita Pit pita in 1995 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Since 2005, when Pita Pit USA, Inc. was formed to develop Pita Pit in the United States, Mr. Lang has been a Corporate Director for Pita Pit USA. He has also been the Director and Chief Executive Officer of Pita Pit International, Inc. since 2006. As Founder of the Pita Pit concept, he continues to offer his guidance and considerable expertise to Pita Pit USA, and is also a Certified Franchise Executive through the educational programs of the International Franchise Association.
Jack T. Riggs, MD – Executive Chairman & CEO
Dr. Jack Riggs has served as chairman of the board and CEO for Pita Pit USA, Inc. since its inception in 2005. From 2001 to 2002, he was Lt. Governor of the State of Idaho, and served in the Idaho State Senate from 1996 to 2001. As a graduate of the University of Idaho and University of Washington School of Medicine, Dr. Riggs is a licensed and board certified emergency medical physician, and previously founded a chain of emergency medical and family care clinics in Idaho. Dr. Riggs served on the Board of Directors for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle from 2004-2012, and is also a Certified Franchise Executive through the educational programs of the International Franchise Association.
Peter J. Riggs – President of Business Operations
Peter J. Riggs has more than a decade of experience in the franchising business, both as a franchisee and a franchisor. While attending the University of Idaho for his undergraduate degree, he became familiar with Pita Pit when the second U.S. location opened in July 1999. Mr. Riggs then became a Pita Pit franchisee in 2003, was part of the team that took the reins of Pita Pit USA in the spring of 2005, and has since earned his MBA from the University of Idaho. He is active with the International Franchise Association through their Legislative Action Group and Franchise Action Network. Peter also participates locally on the Board of Directors for the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce and the Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association.
Doug Reifschneider – VP of Marketing
Doug Reifschneider is a 30+ year restaurant industry veteran and joined the Pita Pit USA team in late August 2017. Prior to joining Pita Pit Reifschneider was VP of Marketing for Firehouse Subs based in Jacksonville, FL. During his 10+ year tenure at Firehouse Subs, Doug was a critical part of the management team that grew the Firehouse brand from less than 250 locations in mid-2006 to over 1050 restaurants in 2017. Prior to his time at Firehouse, Reifschneider worked in corporate & field marketing positions at Fazoli’s, Hardee’s, Wendy’s and Taco John’s. He also has agency experience for Pizza Hut. Mr. Reifschneider is an active board member for the National Restaurants Associations Marketing Executive’s Group, known as MEG.
Brenda Zosel Bookholtz – VP of Accounting & Finance
Brenda Zosel has been the Financial Controller for Pita Pit USA, Inc. since 2006, and Vice President of Accounting and Finance since 2014. She is responsible for providing timely and accurate financial information for Pita Pit USA and its many subsidiaries. Brenda has over 20 years of experience in various business sectors in the Accounting field. Originally from the Midwest, Brenda is very active in Rotary and enjoys spending time with her husband and new son.
C. Lee Strait – VP of Legal Affairs
Lee Strait joined the Pita Pit USA team as Corporate Counsel in 2006 and served in that capacity until becoming Vice President of Legal Affairs in 2014. His time with the Pita Pit USA has helped him develop a perspective that assists in balancing the legal and business considerations associated with the many and varied issues he encounters for the company and its many subsidiaries. He is a lifelong native of the Pacific Northwest and received his law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law with honors in 2001.
Benjamin Drake – VP of Branded Products
Benjamin Drake has served as the Vice President of Branded Products since 2014, as well as serving as the Executive Director of Pita Pit USA, Inc.’s affiliate, Bread Movers LLC, since 2008. He is responsible for driving franchise success by ensuring the quality and standards of menu items at Pita Pit restaurants in addition to meeting supplier expectations and resolving all product-related issues. Previously, Mr. Drake worked in various positions with Pita Pit Inc., including Vice President of Operational Systems. He is a Certified Franchise Executive through the educational programs of the International Franchise Association.
Paul Erwin – VP of Administration & Human Resources
Paul Erwin has been a Vice President since 2005. He first became familiar with Pita Pit while attending the University of Idaho, home of the second Pita Pit U.S. location. He then became a Pita Pit franchisee in 2003 and was part of the team that took the reins of Pita Pit USA in the spring of 2005. As Vice President, he has been in charge of Administrative Services, Franchisee Enrichment, and currently of Administration and Human Resources. Mr. Erwin is responsible for ensuring efficiency, accuracy, compliance and a high standard of support to company departments. He is also a Certified Franchise Executive through the educational programs of the International Franchise Association.
William “Bill” Willfong – VP of Restaurant Operations
Bill Wilfong has served as Vice President of Restaurant Operations since 2014. He is responsible for developing and executing plans to increase the number of franchisees based on the company’s growth strategy. Previously, Mr. Wilfong served as Director of Special Support for Pita Pit Inc. from 2009 to 2012, and then as Director of New Franchise Growth from 2012 to 2014. Mr. Wilfong has been with Pita Pit Inc. since 2007 and has over 20 years work experience in the retail food industry. He is a Certified Franchise Executive through the educational programs of the International Franchise Association.
Stephanie Powers – VP of Field Operations
Stephanie Powers has served as Vice President of Field Operations since 2014. She is responsible for directing the regionally-based field operations team, as well as coordinating the company’s execution of restaurant operations and coaching strategies. Ms. Powers previously served as the Daily Discipline Marketing Division Director from 2011 to 2014, and Director of Regional Support Services and Franchise Systems Support from 2008 to 2011. Prior to Pita Pit USA, Ms. Powers worked as an organizational development consultant, in Professional Development for the University of Idaho, and as a consultant for the Albertson Foundation. She is a Certified Franchise Executive through the educational programs of the International Franchise Association.
Michael “Mick” Gray – IT Director
Mick Gray joined the Pita Pit USA team in 2007, working in multiple capacities including Corporate Store Oversight, Regional Support, Data Analytics, and most recently as Director of the IT Department. Mr. Gray grew up in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and has an extensive history working in his family’s restaurant. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a degree in Finance.
Courtney Beach – Corporate Stores Director
Courtney Beach has been operating Pita Pit locations since 2004. She began rolling pitas while attending the University of Central Florida (UCF), becoming a store manager and eventually the operational training and marketing director for six locations. She graduated from UCF with a degree in Psychology and a certificate in Human Resources. In 2012, Ms. Beach joined the Pita Pit USA Corporate Operations team as a lead store opener and operations trainer. She became the Director of the Corporate Store Division in 2014.
Robert J. Fasnacht – Director & Corporate Secretary/General Counsel
Robert J. Fasnacht has served on the Board of Directors and as Corporate Secretary/General Counsel for Pita Pit USA, Inc. since its inception in 2005. Mr. Fasnacht received a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry (Professional) and then his Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho in 1985. He is admitted to practice law in a number of State and/or Federal Courts including the U.S. Tax Court.
Sandra “Sandy” Patano – Director
Active for her entire life in civic and political affairs, Sandy has held leadership positions on numerous boards and commissions, including the Idaho Capitol Commission overseeing restoration and expansion of Idaho’s magnificent capitol building, completed in 2010. She is also a former Board Chairman of Inland Northwest Community Foundation, an $85 million regional foundation serving northern Idaho and eastern Washington. Since its inception in 2005, she has served on the Advisory Board of The Salvation Army Coeur d’Alene Kroc Center. Prior to creating her own private consulting firm, Sandy Patano Consulting, LLC, she was employed by the U.S. House and then the U.S. Senate for nearly three decades where she worked in management, public policy and public service.
